Misc Bugs / Changes

The below were patched with the last update (2 weeks ago), but were never publicly posted so they're listed here now:

  • Fixed blue phoenix counting as a level 2 man with a drop table
  • You can no longer be assigned dt2 bosses without the 85 slayer requirement on them
  • Claiming rewards like comp cape / zuk helm via the combat achievement interfaces now sends to bank vs inventory
  • Using the tournament spectating orb no longer prevents you from re-equipping items
  • HCIM can no longer gain the 2 new lives they receive at 1k / 2k total while in a tournament that levelled you up temporarily
  • Added a few new bomb positions and windmill spikes to ToA to prevent a safe spot found
  • Only the CoX party leader can now scale the CoX raid up
  • The large muttadile in CoX now uses smart pathing to avoid being stuck/safespotted in a specific square
  • You can no longer enable on a diet invocation and still drink CoX specific raid pots
  • Death charge now correctly resets if used then quickly logging out

New

  • Reduced the number of alchable resources the low level revenants can drop by 50% (medium and high are unchanged) 
  • Fixed a visual bug with drops of multiple of the same item only spawning 1 in specific regions (adamant dragons only showing 1 adamant bar drop, but entering/leaving the area would show the next adamant bar if it dropped 5 for example. very niche and specific re-creation)
  • Fotifying masori armour pieces no longer requires double the armadylean plates that it does on OSRS (was also correct on dmm world) - this was an economy balancing reason but I think it's clear range has the biggest disadvantage and so this makes sense to remove
  • Increased phantom muspah's respawn speed by 2.5x
    • Replaced some damage getting nulled within transition phases with a min damage
  • Updated Nex's drop table viewer to reflect a solo kill result
  • Corrected a bug with sanguinesti staff's protection value
  • Removed clue scrolls from the general store as it felt too 'custom'
  • Added fishing as a key word search for Piscatoris
  • Corrected base dragon bolts not having any ranged strength, tipped/enchanted were correct
  • Corrected being able to craft multiple crystal keys without free space
  • Corrected bloodthirsty mutated bloodvelds xp amount
  • Removed a restriction preventing you from entering a friend's kbd instance
  • The boosted stats from production prodigy now count to making spirit shields and divine rune pouches
  • Updated James' pricing history data for the past 2 weeks

    • Added 'No Prayer' Invocation - disabling the use of any prayer (or ruinous) throughout the entire raid. This adds quite a highest purple % boost compared to other invocations (+100 raid level)
  • Friction/EepyCatGirl: mining amethyst is very tedious / add expert mining gloves
    • Lowered the chance of amethyst depleting by 25%
    • Added the below 3 items:
      • Mining gloves: reduces chance of rocks depleting
      • Superior mining gloves: higher chance of reducing chance of rock depletion
      • Expert mining gloves: highest chance of reducing chance of rock depletion
    • You can purchase the first 2 gloves from Belona, located within the mining guild for unidentified minerals
    • You can upgrade them into the final pair by taking both pairs & 40 unidentified minerals to Belona
    • You can receive unidentified minerals by talking to Belona and mining around the guild, with the higher rocks granting minerals more often
  • Muppet cream: Allow alching with no free inv slots
    • You can now alch without needing an empty slot
  • Multiple people: Leagues 3 Torva to count as Bandos
    • Both regular and sanguine torva will now count as Bandos items for Leagues 3
  • Picklefarmer: Skotizo to respawn if you have totem in inventory
    • Skotizo will now respawn 2 seconds after finishing its death if you have multiple totems in your inventory
  • Shaddyshad: Basic zeah teleports to be added
    • Added the 5 major cities of Zeah to the Cities teleporter category
  • Shinyzard: Able to sacrifice osmumten's fang (or) for same value as osmumten's fang
    • You can now remove the ornament kit from osmumten's fang
  • Squatnation: Check bofa as i'm constantly hitting 0s
    • I've reviewed it and can confirm the damage & accuracy boost are correctly applying
  • Nocturnalt0/DaGoon: add :skull ::redskull
    • Added ::skull - a normal skull
    • Added ::redSkull - high risk skulls you, increasing revenant drop rates but prevents protect item prayer
      • Can only be done within the wilderness
  • Miller: Crystal armor to not lose charges > 50k shards stored to match weaponry
    • Added - you can now also corrupt the crystal armour by storing 50k charges, and it will no longer consume any on use
  • Hayboo: previous option on Ghommals tp
    • Added, does exactly as you'd expect

  • Tedge: 200m agility xp cape perk
    • Added infinite run energy to the 200m agility cape while worn
    • You can also upgrade it using 500 amylase crystals and 20,000 crystal shards to have the perk without being required to wear the cape
    • As with all other completionist cape perks, you will receive 90% chance at this perk if  you have 200m agility, or 45% if you do not.
  • Andy: avarice notes rev weapons = no global announcement
    • Corrected this so the announcement still procs
  • Dakv: Gain fragments (l3) qol
    • You can now toggle each individual fragment category vs globally on/off

  • Lewis: League 3 fragments while inside an instance
    • Fragments found while inside an instance will now go to your bank instead of clogging up your inventory
  • Hardstyle: high elite/master clue scroll chance from cm cox
    • There is now a 50% chance to receive an elite or master clue scroll box for completion of challenge mode CoX runs
  • Tampa: global item / points via exchange shop tracker
    • Although logging exists, we were not storing your lifetime point earnings and so these will only start tracking lifetime points / item counts from today. Lifetime scroll shop points were being tracked and will now display:

  • Goose: Have james list the most common/median price not just average
    • This is addressed as 1 of my 7 goals in the coming months below
  • Tedge: Make masori (f) set a tradable item
    • Updated, can now be listed on the trading post
  • C17: Upgraded dt2 rings to count as l3 items 
    • Added a god alignment to all 4 rings for League 3 accounts:
      • Bellator, Ultor - Bandos
      • Magus - Zamorak
      • Venator - Armadyl
  • Squatnations: many range style buff requests
    • 2x cost to foritfy masori to match osrs was adjusted above
    • the fast enchant bolt scroll has also been adjusted
    • but I won't be doing any custom additions to range
  • Notcturnalt0: add warning before exchanging XP lamp at scurrius
    • Exchanging scurrius spines will now prompt you before giving you an XP lamp
  • Korasi/TW_IG: Use GP to skip/cancel slayer tasks:
    • Added as an option if you don't have enough slayer points, clicking cancel will offer to do it for 100k gp per task
  • Jade: Imcando's apprentice to auto bank excess on l3
    • Imcandon's apprentice (increases the chance to craft an extra jewellery that uses gems) now sends the extra crafts directly to the bank the same as leagues 4's production prodigy does
  • Jade: When you have the 'personal banker' set effect active from having 3 fragments with it equipped, it halves the expected banking rate, but only for woodcutting
    • Corrected this, was set to roll the % chance twice resulting in half the successes
  • Jade: Leagues 3 buff for wintertodt like l4
    • This is too custom and I dislike merging the Leagues together, they should have their own respective benefits/trade offs, so they will remain near 1:1 with osrs
  • Swognation: Extend instances from within the instance quest tab
    • You can now extend your current instance from within the quest tab - no need to leave the instance to do it!
    • The normal restrictions apply to doing this, and the instance will still expire in the same time period if left unattended

  • Zuuq: Divine spirit shield changes
    • Removed the prayer drain on it, so it is now a raw defence upgrade over elysian
    • Elysian: The elysian spirit shield has a 70% chance of reducing the damage the player receives by 25%. On average, this results in a 17.5% overall damage reduction.
    • Divine: 30% flat reduction
  • Terodactyl: make the herb sack scroll send herbs to bank vs inventory
    • The scroll auto collects herbs & if you're a donator it will note them already
  • Soil Nerd: Alchemist set effect for l3
    • Good call out, enabled the alchemist set effect for Leagues 3:

    • Previously unequipped and dropped the torture to your inv/ground if full
    • Will now stay equipped and just revert from blood torture to torture
  • Straub55: Add Forestry
    • Addressed below
  • Juggahoe: Leagues 3 to change fragments close to raid entrances
    • You can now change Leagues 3 fragments at all 3 raid lobbies & home
  • Demon: breach changes
    • Up to 3 breach mobs will now spawn at once, instead of 1 by 1
    • There will be a longer delay between 'sets' of them spawning to ensure it remains balanced
    • But this should allow more players to receive more loot as there's more targets at once
  • Soil Nerd: Add divine restoration and barbarian pest wars to l3 (no effects) but allows us to stack aboslute unit + twin strikes + chain magic
    • Added the below fragments which will allow you to stack set effects + fragment buffs easier:
      • Divine Restoration (combat) / Absolute Unit & Twin Strikes
      • Barbarian Pest Wars (misc) / Twin Strikes & Knife's Edge
      • Grave Robber (skilling) / The Craftsmen
      • Rogues' Chompy Farm (misc) / Double Tap
  • Army: Take gp from bank instead of inv at g.e / shops
    • Added to all of the shops at home, but excluded the skill cape shop as even on osrs you need to take gp for these capes
    • Added to the Trading Post/GE
    • Payment will attempt to withdraw from the inventory, and the bank will be used as a backup source if you don't have the full amt
  • Bluejay: Wildy BH target tp change
    • If your BH target uses the target teleport you will now receive a message in chat as they teleport in
    • As such the radius (squares they can be away from you) has slightly decreased
  • Swoleman: L3 Qol Update:
    • The craftsmen 4x cook food speed
      • This isn't part of the craftsmen so it won't be added
    • Trailblazer (set effect l3) - half tp cost with trailblazer amulet for l3
      • Based on the stats of how few people use the trailblazer amulets on l4 to tp, no point
    • Zamorakian Sight - can u check this is 250% accuracy + unholy magers 125%?
      • Can confirm these are stacking for 375% accuracy upon testing 🙂
  • Peen/Others: more exchange point items:
    • Added the below items to the exchange point store:
      • Zaryte vambraces
      • Sanguinesti staff
      • Kodai wand
      • Nightmare staff
      • Torva armor pieces 
    • The randomly missing items (such as torags hammers and veracs flail) have also made a return!

  • Bub: Allow guardians eye to be added to rcing pet to tansmog?
    • Added the metamorphisis option after you've consumed a guardians eye
    • The eye has been moved from the collection log box to actual runecrafting similar to the robes

  • Everyone: Trivia does not belong as a Completionist cape requirement, people bot ::answer and it's overall a stupid system and should be completely scrapped
    • Lowered the comp cape requirement from 100 to 98
    • Added complete a total of 150 raids requirement to comp cape

 

Project Rebalance - OSRS

Magic damage boost on equipment revised to match osrs:

  • Occult Necklace: Magic damage reduced from 10% to 5%
  • Ancestral Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 2% to 3%
    • Virtus Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 3% to 4% (custom on Vulcan due to dt2 bosses)
  • The following items have had their Magic damage per piece increased from 0 to 1%:
    • Infinity Robes.
    • Dagon'hai Robes.
    • 3rd Age Mage Armour
    • Ahrim's Robes.
    • Elder Chaos Druid Robes
    • Bloodbark Armour
  • Eternal Boots: Magic damage increased from 0 to 1%
  • Mage's Book: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%
  • Ancient Wyvern Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%
  • Malediction Ward: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%
  • Arcane Spirit Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 3%
  • Seers' Ring and Seers' Ring (i): Magic damage increased from 0 to 1%
  • Elite Void Mage Set bonus: Magic damage increased from 2.5% to 5%

Prayers revised to match osrs:

  • Augury: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 4%
  • Mystic Might: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 2%
  • Mystic Lore: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 1%
  • (Ruinous Prayers) Vaporise increased from 25% to 28% accuracy and 4% to 6% mage damage

Weapons revised to match osrs:

  • Elder maul - as discussed in a previous blog this will come with the Fortis Colosseum / Araxxor update planned for early October
  • Inquisitors armour - provides 0.5% per piece to attack and strength, with 1% for the full set. Now boosts to 2.5% per piece of the mace is equipped
  • Ancient godsword - healing from successful Blood Sacrifice special attack now heals for 15% of the target's maximum HP, up to a 25 HP cap (instead of a set 25)

Other:

  • On successful hit (you passed the accuracy check), damage rolls of a 0 are 'clamped' up to a 1. This is mainly geared towards new accounts who could pass the accuracy check but then had 50% chance to roll 0 and 50% chance to roll a 1.
  • Reduced the drain rate of Thick Skin, Burst of Strength, Clarity of Thought, Sharp Eye and Mystic Will from 5 points per minute to 1 point per minute
  • Adjusted Sharp Eye and Burst of Strength to boost your Ranged and Strength levels by +1 respectively if they're lower than 20
  • When selecting the Autocast option on a staff and then clicking an NPC, there’s a 1-tick delay before your first attack actually fires. This was never the case on Vulcan and so I can now call this bug a matching feature of osrs

Elemental Magic Weaknesses

For every percentage point of Elemental Weakness that an NPC has, your spells of that element will gain +1% Accuracy and +1% damage. This means if your max hit on Dharoks was 30, it would become 45 with the new elemental weaknesses and a wind spell.

Vulcan Economy Update

  • I've broken up July into the first 2 & last 2 weeks to really show how much of a positive impact our recent Blackjack update has had - as of writing this it's removed more than 140b in raw gp from our economy, which equates to approx. 11% of all of the coins in the game.
  • Obviously GP enters the game faster than all of our GP sinks combined (as a normal healthy economy does). but I think this shows how incredibly well managed the economy has been since our inception to prevent major inflation or detrimental impacts to new players starting their journey
  • And due to this tightly managed economy & fair drop rates, we are able to utilize the GE Bot to remove tons of items players sell on the GE everyday, ensuring nobody (especially newer players) complain that their items don't sell - and more importantly that the GE bot adding raw GP to the game is removed just as quickly through all of the gp sinks we have!
  • The only negative thing I will state here is players are heavily influenced by small trends / merchers and so below I'm addressing how I'll be displaying more GE data to prevent people saying items are 'crashing' only for my logs to show they're actually the ones buying that item out as people list it for lower prices

Leagues Breakdowns

  • At the launch of Leagues 4, all existing accounts were Leagues 3, and so the below shows the trend it's taken over the past few months
  • However I will note, over the past 8 weeks the % of players actively playing Leagues 3 has increased from 9% to 19%, indicating the Leagues 3 updates have been well received

Looking forwards

Below are some of the bigger sized updates (from 1-2 days to 1-2 weeks per item) I plan to bring to Vulcan over the next 3 month period. The order is the priority, but doesn't mean that'll be the order they release in.

Today's update also marks our 21st update in 24 weeks since Leagues 4 was added, and it's amazing to see we continue to hit all time records every weekend lately.

  1. Projectile timings for whisperer & the leviathan
    • Although the timing is correct, the visual queue to react to can look 'off' if you're actively running closer/further to the boss. Although this isn't hugely detrimental it's something I'd like to fix (especially as new bosses come to the game like Colosseum where projectile timings are also important)
  2. GE History price interface 
    • Plan is to add a new custom interface which will display a lot more data than our current scroll. This will allow me to display;
      • Recent purchases/sales and the player's associated
      • More accurate data (median instead of just averages which can be heavily skewed)
      • Price ranges on items (+/- 10% of the most common pricing)
      • Live updating vs fortnightly data updates
  3. Events interface
    • As our server wide events continue to expand, it is now time to add a proper interface that displays each event and it's current status / time remaining
  4. Ability to swap in/out GIM players without them needing to wait for a server restart
    • Although I make my position clear on GIM not being a real game mode and it just being a main with extra steps (lol) (especially when you see how many tickets we get per week to remove people / kick inactive players) as we continue to grow waiting ~6 days to be removed from your group has fallen out of acceptable timing and so this will be solved soon.
  5. GE Buy offers
    • One of the most requested changes has not fallen on deaf ears and is on the radar to come in the coming months
  6. Deadman Mode - September
    • All suggestions & changes implemented for our September run of Deadman Mode, with the possibility of adding the biggest prize pool rsps has ever seen (tbc)
  7. Revision upgrade + all of the new OSRS content
    • All updates from February 2024 onwards will come with our next 'major' patch - I'm currently expecting to do it in ~September and release it early October, with the main reason being I want Varlamore part 2 to release prior to doing it. With Araxxor being announced for the end of this month, I am now only holding off for the final item, but if it does not come prior to mid September we will update and just push Varlamore p2 to the next revision update which would probably be December.
    • With this Vulcan will get:
      • Zombie axe
      • Warped sceptre
      • Forestry
      • Varlamore
        • Fortis Colosseum minigame + Dizana's quiver
        • Hunter's guild
        • Moons of Peril + Blood, Blue & Eclipse moon armor sets
      • Undead pirates
      • Project rebalance (mostly done today, but missing elder maul special attack)
      • New content from Deadman Mode Armageddon 
      • WGS / Tormented demons / tormented synapse amulet
      • Araxxor new slayer boss - 28th of August

Desert Treasure 2 - Pet Perks

Vardorvis (Butch)

  • Now has a 4% chance to roll 1 of the below 2 attacks from Vardorvis:
    • Axe swing - dealing 3 swing hits and applying bleed damage
    • Ground spike - dealing 1 major hit
  • As both of these attacks are positional based at Vardorvis, they work the same in pvm. If your boss steps away from them, the damage will not hit

Duke Sucellus (Baron)

  • Now has a 4% chance to cover your target in bile, dealing 5 poison splats across 5 ticks, indicated by the Duke ice spike

The Whisperer (Wisp)

  • Now has a 4% chance to shoot 3 projectiles magic or ranged based at your target, indicated by the wisp's animations

The Leviathan (Lil'viathan)

  • Now has a 4% chance to file the electric based ball attack, dealing major damage to the position
  • As this attack is positional based at Leviathan, it works the same in pvm. If your target steps away, the damage will not hit

Blackjack - Review and changes

Blackjack odds have now settled with the house edge around 2.4% (if people play perfect strategy)

  • This has been decreased to 2% as we've now lowered the amount of decks used from 6 to 4
  • Added some additional global stats to the blackjack board
  • Fixed the highest win/loss streak not updating on the global board
  • Removed the statistic that shows how much GP has been removed overall as players were using this to claim item prices were dropping so they could buy them cheaper

Weekly Boss Speed Run - New Format

  • This coming week the speed run will be very different - in fact, it won't be a speed run at all!
  • Introducing 'Weekly boss challenges' - a different challenge every week, selecting from:
    • Fastest boss kill time in seconds/minutes
    • Lowest GP load out value used to kill the boss
    • Lowest combat level to defeat the boss
    • Longest time survived against the boss
  • And to ensure some of these challenges remain open to all, you will not have your challenge result recorded if you used a pet during the attempt! This means it should come down purely to your relic choices and skill/luck
